I was just flicking through the newsfeed when I came across a suggested post - for a website for females called Just Fab, that specialises in selling shoes amongst other things such as bags, jewellery and clothing.
Obviously this was suggested to me because I had recently been looking at various boots and trainers on Google. This technique of personal advertising is increasingly becoming more popular - some people do not like it, as it feels like there is a lack of privacy. However, I think it is a great idea, as I have come across websites or products that I may have not looked at otherwise. This gives me the chance to find the things I have either specifically trying to be looking for, in this case shoes, or the chance to find things I know I would be interested in.
This "personal advertising" of promoting things that fit the consumer's identity corresponds with what I have been studying in one of my modules at Uni - Understanding Markets and Customers, where we have been discussing how brands tailor their advertising to suit specific groups consumers, but obviously this is a more precise way focusing on a particular individual.
The site itself was great as again, it did a quiz where you had to choose which styles and products you preferred out of the choices given - so that they could get a flavour of what style you are into, and promote specific products on the website that fit with this style.
Most significantly for me though, was the fact that there was some really great shoes on there, and once I have a bit of spare cash, I will definitely be going to the website to purchase some shoes, and I definitely recommend you do too!
If you are interested in looking at the site, I have put a link to it here and on my Recommendations page.
