The last few weeks I have been volunteering for Transition Town Totnes, a charity organisation that is helping Totnes become more eco-friendly and sustainable. Part of the charity is their film festival, which on the 14th/15th of November, ran for its second year. The films primarily followed the themes of climate change, sustainability and permaculture.

I got involved to gain more marketing, volunteering and film/event experience - all areas I am particularly passionate about.

I was the main content creator on the Facebook and Twitter page in the run up to the festival, to help spread word about the festival. I also helped contribute ideas at the committee meetings, pick up and distribute tickets and posters around the local area, and email media establishments. I also helped out at the event for a few hours.

I loved being able to write content about film, and has really made me want to persue getting involved in film festivals and other film-related avenues more!

The films I went to see are Children of the Jaguar, The Heart of Everything, and Micropia - all of which I recommend you watch. Other films featured at the festival were: AutistiX, Elemental, This Changes Everything (which was particualrly popular), Silence, Deep Listening, and Two Raging Grannies. There was also children's filmmaking workshops, and Q&As.

The hard work paid off as lots of people came along to expand their minds and be entertained by these rather inspirational, interesting and educational films.

I hope that I can be involved again next year!
