Reasons I Dislike Clothes Shopping During The Winter!

As much as I love getting and buying new things, I am not the biggest fan of shopping anyway, as it involves having to make a choice out of many lovely options, it makes my feet feet hurt and tires me out easily. But come this time of year I particularly don't enjoy the fun past-time that quickly turns into a chore, and here are some reasons why:

1. Trying The Clothes On

Because it is cold and/or wet we tend to wear numerous amounts of layers, so therefore it takes up a big chunk of the shopping time having to take off and put on all of out clothes. In the end you cannot be bothered to try something on, leaving you to either not bother getting the item at all, or buying it, trying it on at home, realising the size you got does't fit, so then having to make another dreaded trip back in town another day to return it, providing you have remembered the receipt.

2. Changing Temperatures

It is cold outside, but the hot inside confusing your body. By being nice and toasty inside, it makes you feel the cold even more when you are outside.

3. Windy, Wet Weather

Your hair gets a mess, your clothes get soaked through, and if there is a combination of wind and rain, there is no hope for your mini umbrella - not that you can use it both hands are full of shopping. Plus some shopping suffers from the wet, my example being when my paper Primark bag got ruined by the rain, and some of the contents fell out onto the street.

4. Who Turned The Lights Out?

It gets darker earlier in the day, and your body, still after all these years, does not get used immediately to the change, therefore leaving you tired and confused, even though it is only half four or five in the evening. Less light makes you feel as if you should stay out so long, whether it is due to tiredness, fear of danger (increased by lack of light). Additionally you can't see the shops as clearly, and are less likely to wonder. You have the "just can't be bothered feeling".

5. Christmas Craziness

Town gets super busy full of people trying to get Christmas presents, both locals and holiday-makers. Although it can make for a great atmosphere, there are many disadvantages: super busy equals super long queues - not good if you are in a rush, or have to get back to the car in time, and just in general; no body likes waiting. Sometimes the items you want are out of stock so you have to wait, or get something else. Busy stores also means less of a chance to see all of the stock properly as people could be crowding it, particularly in more cramped stores; it may mean you might miss out on something that you might want or need.

I am probably being over the top by saying all of this, and with some there are solutions, like shopping at a busier time, like in the morning; or buying waterproof bags; or shopping online so you don't even have to venture outside. However, sometimes you don't have these options, and you have to be patient and proactive, and brave the dreaded shopping trip.
